SYMBOLISM I theorize that all the flavor of ritualistic, spiritual symbolism and mental imagery isn't conjoined at the hip to the “faith” that can be attached to it; you don't have to believe such things to be the word of god or an objective “truth” to make good use of them. It has been said that nature abhors a vacuum, or something to that effect, and this seems applicable to the human reaction to the unknown, and to empty places in one's world-view, as people seem to have a need for all sorts of wacky dogma. I theorize that symbolism is about what works for you, that most if not all symbols, such as magical rituals and tools, head pictures of the Creator or magical energy or creatures, are psycho-spiritual catalysts with no inherent “magical” properties, and the active ingredient is your psyche's reaction to the symbolic stimuli. It seems to be just fine to take symbols that you enjoy and find spiritual even when they are used dominantly or exclusively by a false religion. I can think of no harm that could come from completely mimicking another religion, if you dig their symbolism enough. As long as you realize it is symbolism and don't believe in their dogma you can be a practicing Infidel and by all appearances seem to be a member of a rigidly dogmatic faith. Why not, if that tickles your fancy? The Infidelic Church isn't about abandoning mere symbols, it's about abandoning dogma. It's about losing your faith.
